Top Tier Dems Disappoint-Joe Biden Wins Dem Debate!

Of the eight candidates running to win the Democrat nomination for president, the three so-called "top tier" candidates came in 5th, 6th and 7th during Sunday's ABC-Iowa Presidential debate, according to presentation experts Jeanette and Roy Henderson.

"That would be way out of the money in a horse race," says Jeanette Henderson, co-author of the best-selling book There's No Such Thing as Public Speaking and co-founder of Podium Master, an internationally recognized presentational consulting firm. "Obama, Clinton and Edwards were dull, duller, and dullest. One successful joke does not win a debate."

Old hands at analyzing how an audience will react to a speaker, they have been issuing a Report Card on each Presidential candidate after every major debate, ranking them in order of their ability to connect with the audience and present themselves in a way that is suitable for the event, in this case, "Do they come across as Presidential?"

Rather than simply judge subjectively as the pundits usually do, and which would "skew the results every time," Ms. Henderson says her company uses a scientific evaluation that scores each candidate on more than 20 specific criteria that measure the effectiveness of each candidate's presentational skill. "Ultimately, in every election," she claims, "it's the best presentation that wins. Not necessarily the best candidate, it's the best presentation."

Here are the rankings:
#1 Joe Biden 64%
#2 Bill Richardson 58%
#3 Dennis Kucinich 54%
#4 Chris Dodd 47%
#5 Barack Obama 44%
#6 Hillary Clinton 39%
#7 John Edwards 39%
#8 Mike Gravel 36%

The rankings have changed somewhat since the beginning of the current debate season, according to Roy Henderson. The winner has been someone different during each Democrat debate. "But there's still no breakout frontrunner in the presentational department, that's for sure," Henderson laments. "We're anxiously looking forward to finding anyone who can reach 70%. The least Americans deserve in a President is someone who can make a passing grade in communication skills."
